Tony Hill and Carol Jordan are back, and under pressure.

The city of Bradfield is in mourning. First their star midfielder is murdered. Then an explosion rips through the stadium, leaving dozens dead and many more injured.

Is it a terrorist attack? A personal vendetta against the team? Or something even more sinister?

Recovering in hospital, criminal profiler Dr Tony Hill attempts to make sense of the fragments of information he can gather. Unfortunately, his customary ally, DCI Carol Jordan, is struggling to maintain her own involvement in the investigation.

It wouldn't be so bad if they could agree about who they're looking for. But Beneath the Bleeding sets them at oddls like never before. Now Tony and Carol must ask themselves questions they would never have thought possible, to find a killer they are unable to imagine...
